Authors Note

A Circle of Stars is a fantasy webcomic inspired by a dream I had on the 21st of July 2005. It was my first really long story, and as time has gone on the plot has gotten more and more convoluted and I've gotten more and more tangled with inconsistencies and problematic elements (I was trying to poke at the race/gender/class etc issues in fantasy but fell into some of them myself). Also I've gotten quite ill which means I have a lot less energy for drawing.

Thus (as of November 2009) I've decided to give up on finishing it in it's original intended form. From Chapter 4 Page 7 the story is continued in a mix of sparse prose and illustrations (plus maybe the odd comic if the mood takes me).

Also, the astute reader may notice that all of the main characters appear to be cats. (Or at least, cat-like) There are three main reasons for this:

  1. They were cats in the dream (albeit more Anne MacAffery and less Beatrix Potter);
  2. Non-humans make for a more interesting setting;
  3. Cats are fun to draw.
